The Big 3
Events not to be missed in Northern Nevada
Be sure to check out the details below.
Great Reno Balloon Race (Sept 5–7, 2025)
The Great Reno Balloon Race is one of the world’s largest free hot-air ballooning events, drawing more than 100 colorful balloons to the skies above Reno. Early risers can experience the popular Dawn Patrol, where balloons light up and launch before sunrise, followed by the breathtaking mass ascension at daybreak. Families should bring blankets, warm clothing, and a thermos of coffee or cocoa to enjoy the show from Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Parking is available nearby with shuttles running throughout the morning.

Carson City Murals & Music Festival (Sept 15–20, 2025)
Carson City comes alive during this week-long celebration of art and music. Local and visiting muralists transform blank walls downtown into vibrant works of public art, while live music performances, food trucks, and community activities add to the creative energy. Visitors can stroll through the mural sites at their own pace or join guided tours to learn about the artists’ inspiration. Evening concerts and family-friendly events make this a perfect outing for both locals and travelers looking to experience Carson City’s growing arts scene.

Genoa Candy Dance (Sept 27–28, 2025)
A Nevada tradition since 1919, the Genoa Candy Dance combines small-town charm with artisan shopping and sweet treats. This beloved two-day festival in historic Genoa features hundreds of craft and food vendors, live entertainment, and, of course, the famous handmade candy sales that gave the event its name. Visitors can shop for unique gifts, enjoy local food, and soak up the friendly atmosphere in Nevada’s oldest settlement. Parking is limited in town, so shuttles are provided from surrounding areas—plan ahead for an easier visit.
